In a country like India playback singers always get more fame and recognition than solo artists. However, the scene has shifted a lot with the globalization of music as it has given the Indie artist a platform to show their skills. In recent years, this new genre has witnessed a high range of growth. For example, singers like Prateek Kuhad, Anuv Jain, and AP Dhillon have gained immense fame on a global scale than India. RANJ

Following the launch of her Tamil single “Nee Mattume” Bengaluru-based singer and rapper Ranjani Ramadoss aka RANJ gained widespread popularity among music lovers. Her meaningful lyrics and vibrant music are incredibly unique to listen to.

Shane

Shillong-based Indie artist Shane is a certified lover boy straight out of the North East as his debut EP, Love, has expressed deep emotions incredibly. 

Sunflower Tape Machine

Aryaman Singh aka Sunflower Tape Machine proved his talent with his soothing voice and heart-touching compositions. His notable singles ’Sophomore Sweetheart’ (2021) and ‘Internet Friends’ (2022), most recently ‘Rosemary’(2023) have been adored by indie music lovers from all over the world

Indie genius Kayan

Singer-songwriter Tamaya Bhatnagar showers her range of music in her songs like “Itne Pyaar Se (Thoda Darr Lagta Hai)”, “Raat Adhoori,” and an English EP called Wherever I Go, I’d Like to Be All I Need.  With her powerful voice and inclusive lyrics, she deftly balances Hindi and English tunes through her talent. 

Tribe Mama Marykali

Offering a unique, sensual, and playful songwriting and beautiful voice is enough to enchant the listeners. Her notable works include groovy, resolute songs like “Bless Ya Heels” in 2021, and  2020 singles “Freakay” and “Flames” as well as the two-track EP “Kerala Gold” which was also very popular among music lovers. 

Ananya Sharma

The Mumbai-based singer-songwriter came into the industry in 2020 with two captivating singles titled “State of the Art” and “I will never be bad again.” The uniqueness and charm she depicts through her single is incredibly commendable.
