The story of this series revolves around Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson’s best-selling novel Sisterhood of Dune. Let’s check out some important details about the story.
The plot of Dune: Prophecy series
The plot of the series is set thousands of years before the events shown in Villeneuve’s films following the beginning of Paul Atreides’s transformation from a wronged aristocrat to a vengeful messianic figure. Showing the origin story of the Bene Gesserit clan which is a group consisting of women who faced years of mental and physical conditioning to develop superhuman abilities. These qualities make them objects of suspicion and mistrust to outsiders.
Moreover, Tabu’s character Sister Francesca has been described as “Strong, intelligent, and alluring, (she) leaves a lasting impression in her wake. Once a great love of the Emperor, her return to the palace strains the balance of power in the capital.”
Joining forces with actors like Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Jodhi May and others on the show Tabu’s appearance will indeed look more grand. The actor’s logline reads, “Set within the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.”

About the creative differences of the series
Initially set up with Dana Calvo and Jon Spaihts, the latter was replaced by Diane Ademu-John a couple of years later. Moreover, Chornobyl’s Johan Renck was hired to direct the first two episodes and despite the filming having started Renck and Ademu-John departed the series following creative differences. For now, Alison Schapker was appointed as the showrunner while Anna Foerster is getting the gig of directing a few episodes.
In an interview with The Playlist, the makers said of the bts drama, “There was a lot of stuff that was going on, but no one can be held responsible, or showrunners that got exchanged, and the original idea of the story completely changed course also because it used to be called, Dune: Sisterhood, and then it changed names and became a completely different thing. Again, that’s something that can happen in episodic TV, and it’s just like, either you are okay being in and functioning in that environment of that kind, but it never has been or will it be something for me.”
Tabu was last seen in the film Crew.
