Ali Fazal opened up the success of ‘Mirzapur Season 3’. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in Ali revealed the reason his role in the latest season was challenging. The actor who also has working experience in the West shared that initially he was confident about the show. Moreover, he is also confident that the storytelling would become a cult favourite. Let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Ali Fazal said he know that would get this famous
Talking with the outlet Fazal told, “When it (Mirzapur) first came out, I never knew it would get this famous. But, I knew that this form of storytelling would work, and I think it was one of those few shows with such a plotline. Because I had seen it in the West and have seen it work, hence, I was pretty sure that if the story is done right, there’s going to be an audience for it because then it was a different medium that is catching up.”
Moreover, the actor also explained the reason found season three of this popular gangster drama challenging. “Season 3 was challenging because we had this constant thing going that ‘will the next season work?’ I can’t think of (any other series)…maybe ‘Peaky Blinders’. I’m not comparing ourselves to that, but I’m saying because of them coming out with so many seasons, so then, also be mindful that you have to keep up with the world, and characters. I think that’s the challenge we focus on,” he shared.
“We are getting there in our narratives and I think it’s about time now where the world just shrinks up a little, and we’re about to share more notes more easily than before. The gaze is already on South Asian content and South Asian artists. It’s really nice to see that a show like ‘Mirzapur’ which, of course, is massy and has something that just manages to work and bring this mad fandom,” Ali continues.
The actor who plays Guddu Pandit in the series shared,“Fandom is one thing because ‘woh chipak jaate hai’ (they stick to you). I am talking about regular watchers, also who find some threads that just connect. That is why this series has managed to keep up with decent writing. I think there is a wonderful bunch of performers. Although we are doing separate, separate stuffs but it’s a nice pool to come back to.”
Apart from Ali, the movie also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Rasika Duggal, and Shweta Sharma Tripathi in pivotal roles.
‘Mirzapur 3’ is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
