After the much-awaited victory in the ICC 2024 T20 World Cup, the men in blue show their spell in the ground of Pallekele. Marking the debut of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian cricket team and Surya Kumar Yadav as the first T20I captain of India after the retirement of Rohit Sharma from this format, this team possessed the power to win even under pressure.
The Indian team sealed the victory with a 3-0 lead with back-to-back wins. The last match was a super over after the Sri Lankans tied the score of Sri Lanka 137. However, the Indian spinner Washington Sundar made their win obvious after dismissing the SL team for just 3 runs in the oven. Surya Kumar easily reached the target with just one ball with 4 runs. Let’s check out the complete highlights of the match.
The Highlights of the IND vs SL 3rd T20I
Despite putting in a good effort in all three departments the Sri Lankan failed to defeat the blues over and over again.
With the changes in the squad for the last match the team’s powerful young openers Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal tried to give a good start for the team. However, SL’s strong bowling attack led them to an early dismissal. Theekshana first trapped Jaiswal in lbw and sent him to the dressing room after two fours in three balls.
Later on, the number 3 batter Sanju Samson failed to have a grip on the game after getting dismissed in a second duck with the ball of Wickramasinghe. After Samson’s early dismissal, Rinku Singh came with the hope of running but became the second victim of Theekshana. As the game started getting out of India’s hand, Riyan Parag’s partnership with Gill gave the team a decent recovery and took India past 50 in the ninth over.
The team managed to put 137 on the scoreboard thanks to the efforts from Washington Sundar and Ravi Bishnoi.
The easily chasable target of just 138 runs seems in the hands of SL after getting a good start with from the openers Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. After totally outplaying India Sri Lanka lost their first wicket in the ninth over with 69 runs on the board. Later SL batter Kusal Perera’s aggressive route seems to make their win quite easy after bringing the equation to 30 needed from 30 balls.
However, in all of their surprise, the Indian team got a grip on their game with Rinku Singh’s 2 wickets and SKY’s (Surya Kumar Yadav) 2 wickets in the death overs.
Needless to say, this team isn’t easy to choke under pressure.
