Finally, we got the green light. Let’s get ready to enter the deadly games as Netflix finally unveiled the release date of the much-anticipated series Squid Game’s season 2. As season 1 of the blockbuster Korean survival drama remains the most-watched season of any series in Netflix history automatically the expectations with season 2 are quite high. Squid Game season 2 will release on Netflix on December 26

On August 1 the online streaming platform officially announced the release of the much-awaited series. 

Hence, the Squid Game fans mark your calendar on December 26. 

While sharing a 43-second long video on social media, Netflix announced the exciting news writing, “The real game begins. Squid Game Season 2 is coming December 26. The Final Season coming 2025.”

The video features the Front Man witnessing the deadly and later asking the audience, “It’s been three years. Do you want to play another game?”

Prior to the release the series’s creator, director, and executive producer Hwang Dong-hyuk also shared a loving note for the fans, which said, “I am thrilled to see the seed that was planted in creating a new Squid Game grow and bear fruit through the end of this story.”

As for the synopsis of season 2, it reads, “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport. Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organisation proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”

Starcast of Squid Game Season 2

Along with the previous star cast Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Gong Yoo, and Wi Ha-jun, new faces like Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Lee Jin-uk, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won and Won Ji-an is all set to join the Squid Game universe.

Recap of Season 1

The story of season one star a divorced, broken middle-aged man named Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) who is an indebted gambler. In order to pay off his debts he joined a squid game squad as player number 456. The gaming area is kept under wraps from the participants and they are constantly under surveillance by masked guards in pink jumpsuits. Moreover, the games are run by the mysterious masked human referred as Front Man. 

As the story progresses the players find out that losing means death.
