Season 2 of House of the Dragon came to an end on 4th August Sunday after 8 episodes. With anticipation and disappointment of the latest season fans are now looking forward to what the third season will bring. The prequel of HBO’s blockbuster series Game of Thrones season 2 left many unanswered questions for the viewers. Let’s check out the important questions that need to be answered in the next season.

- The fate of Otto Hightower: Lord Otto Hightower who is the former Hand of the king on the court of Viserys I Targaryen and later Aegon II Targaryen and also the father of Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower is featured briefly in the final episode of the season 2. The Lord of Oldtown seems to be in a dungeon making it unclear who or when he is incarcerated.
- Revelation of Prince Daeron Targaryen: The youngest son of Viserys I Targaryen and his second wife Queen Alicent Hightower was entirely missing throughout the first two seasons. Although he was briefly mentioned in season two and his dragon Tessarion, the Blue Queen featured briefly in the season 2 finale, it’ll be really interesting to watch his storyline in the next season.
- The Battle of the Gullet: As Triarchy is heading towards the King’s landing with the help of Tyland Lannister the battle of the Gullet storms between the greens and blacks. Regards as a crucial conflict in the Dance of the Dragons, the fans have to wait till the next for the event.
- Aegon’s Exile: In the finale, we saw disputed king Aegon II escape the king’s landing with the help of Larys Strong after sensing some upcoming destruction between Prince Regent Aemond Targaryen and black queen Rhaenyra. Now the question is with his intense physical injury would he be able to take the iron throne again?
- The fall of King’s Landing: an unexpected encounter between Alicent and Rhaenyra shows them making a surprising agreement to help the latter seize King’s Landing. Only season three can disclose what decision the black queen might take.
- Rhaena Targaryen the new Dragonridder: season two shows Rhaena Targaryen, the daughter of Prince Daemon and his late second wife Lena Velaryon who has been dragonless for years comes across Sheepstealer, a wild troublesome dragon. It will be interesting to see in the next season if she’s able to claim a dragon or not.
- The Blacks and Starks: In the pilot episode we saw Cregan Stark and his men pledge their loyalty to Rhaenyra. Needless to say, it’ll be interesting to see the Northmen fighting for the black queen.
Recap of Season 2 Finale
The last episode of season two disclosed numerous interesting facts. To begin with, Prince Daemon Targaryen gets a glimpse of the disastrous future making him pledge his loyalty to his wife Rhaenyra once again. On the other hand, Queen Alicent Hightower made a surprise visit to her step-daughter Rhaenyra promising to help her in capturing the king’s landing.
Moreover, a short glimpse of the armies of the big houses of Westeros and the escape of King Aegon II was also featured in the episode. Needless to say, the anticipation for the next season has grown rapidly from now.
