Paris Olympics 2024, Day 14: India Win 6th Medel As Wrestler Aman Sehrawat Bags Bronze

Indian fans got another reason to slime in the Paris Olympics 2024. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat bagged the country’s 6th comprehensive medal and 5th Bronze medal at the prestigious event. Aman has also become the youngest medallist at just 21 years 0 months and 24 days, winning  in the men’s 57kg category by defeating Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico. The wrestler created history by becoming youngest medalist from India, also the first Indian wrestler to win in that category. After the successful 13th day for the Indians with Neeraj Chopra’s Silver and Hockey team’s Bronze medal win the subsequent day is undoubtedly a cherry on top. The Indian quartet of Vithya Ramraj, Jyothika Sri Dandi, MR Poovamma, and Subha Venkatesan finished with a time of 3:32.51 in the women’s 4x400m relay.

Meanwhile, in the men’s event relay quartet of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal Variyathodi, Amoj Jacob and Rajesh Ramesh have an improvement in their performance with a season-best timing of 3:00.58 at the 4x400m relay. Following the improvement they succeeded to 4th place disqualifying Nigeria. However, it still didn’t let them secure a place in the final.

India’s Aman Sehrawat also gave a stellar performance at the Bronze medal match becoming the youngest Olympics medalist by securing a bronze at the prestigious event. In a head-to-head combat with Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz Sehrawat was calm and strategic with his every move making him win with a large margin of 13-5 after launching a series of attacks on the opponent.

Needless to say, he put a smile on the face of Indians after wrestler Vinesh Phogat faced a heartbreaking disqualification ahead of her gold medal match in the women’s freestyle 50 kg category.

Golf

India’s day in golf isn’t as promising as expected since after the third round of the women’s event, Aditi Ashok holds the rank 40. Ashok who finished fourth in Tokyo has a total score of 222 and a To Par score of +6. On the other hand, Diksha Dagar with a total of 223 scored, and a To Par score of +7 is currently in 42nd position on the scoreboard.
