Punjabi singer-songwriter Rashmeet Kaur strives to make her mark in the Indian music industry in the long run. Despite not having an immense fame of social media followers the singer is gradually becoming remarkable for her unforgettable songs. Kaur “Jadi Buti”, “Ishq Nachaawe”, “Nadiyon Paar”, and most lately the hit track from the 2022 movie “Bhediya” “Thumkeshwari”. Starting from scratch the musician has done incredible hard work to reach her current position. Rashmeet’s unique ability to blend different genres through the music made her stand out among her contemporaries. Let’s find out about her inspirational journey to achieve fame.
Rashmeet Kaur’s life and journey
Born in Punjab in 1994, Rashmeet spent most of her life in New Delhi. Coming from a musical family, her parents soon recognized her singing potential. At the age of six, she started performing Gurmat Sangeet, a Sikh devotional music that she learned from her mother and her teacher Jasvinder Kaur.
In 2012, she also appeared as one of the contestants on the popular singing reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.
While growing up along with her studies she took professional training in Indian classical music at Gandharva Mahavidyalaya in Delhi. Later on, she also pursued a course in Indian classical singing.
Along with her musical career she also has a degree in Medical Science from Delhi University.
The singer even formed a band and started performing in the city during her college days.
Rashmeet Kaur rising to success
Kaur’s struggles and hard work paid off in 2017 as she got her first break as a playback singer in the movie Phillauri singing “Heer.”
Over the years she has delivered some popular tracks to the listeners including Nadiyon Paar from the movie Roohi, Janiye from Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, Thumkeshwari from Bhediya, and Ishq Nachaawe, composed and sung for the film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’s track “Ishq Nachaawe.”
Rashmeet has been simultaneously trying to grow her identity apart from a playback singer through her singles Maati Ki Gudiya in 2018, Musafir in 2019, and religious track Manjh Muhabbat Teri in 2020, and most recently KAURA in 2024.
In 2020, she also made her first international collaboration with Major Lazer, Diplo, and Nucleya for their album Music Is the Weapon’s song “Jadi Buti.”
