Indian Rock-band Daira is back with their new album ‘Jaadoo Bastar.’ The popular band which consists of members R Shivam Pant, Aditya Ahir, Piyush Kapoor, Aditya Ranga, and Pratyay Mishra has been successfully captivating listers for more than a decade. The phenomenon group of men whose 2022 live show at Bastar, Chhattisgarh made them so mesmerized by the place that it led to the release of their new album ‘Jaadoo Bastar’ featuring five beautiful songs. During a recent interview, the band opened up about the idea behind this creation. Let’s delve into all the details of this segment.
‘Daira’ members on the idea of their new album ‘Jaadoo Bastar’
The sensational band which came into force in 2015 has given music lovers 38 songs to date. With the heartfelt lyrics and soothing melodies, they have successfully conquered the hearts of listeners creating a huge fan base. Therefore, it isn’t hard to say that by setting up the bars so high with every new release fans’ expectations increase even more.
This time the band has come up with an innovative idea of representing this small tribal village with their verses and artistic creation.
Addressing their inspiration for the village, vocalist Piyush Kapoor says, “In 2022 Daira was touring in Chhattisgarh and that is when we got a call from Bastar administration to perform in Bastar and to conduct a musical workshop for the local musicians.”
Kapoor added, “We then explored the local tribal music in Bastar and we were so surprised. It was so beautiful, rich and melodic. That is when we had this spark that we should do something. The workshop that the government had organised was a blessing in disguise because we did not know that our jamming session and workshops would result in such great results.”
Moreover, he said of the process, “It is during this that we realized that their music and Daira’s sound complimented each other really well. And that was the first seed that came to our mind on collaborating with them. Later we discussed this with the administration in Bastar and eventually after a month our entire band came to Bastar and we created Jaadoo Bastar. Also, the show that we recently did Bastar was Bastar’s first Rock event ever.”
The lyricist Alok Ranjan Srivastava, put in, “We were pleasantly surprised to work with these people, firstly because their music has been there with them for ages making it very rich in itself emotionally, lyrically, and melodically.”
