Although We can’t shut up, Chris Pine seems to be!
Amid the incredible buzz surrounding the return of Disney’s iconic franchise Princess Diaries with the third installment, the question also started revolving around whether Chris Pine was returning or not. Pine who made his Hollywood debut with the second franchise of the film The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement opposite Anne Hathaway was asked about his potential involvement during his recent appearance on the Today show. Despite fans’ anticipation of reliving the incredible chemistry of Hathway and Pine, the actor’s response is quite vague. To know why let’s check out the complete details of this story.
Chris Pine said he doesn’t know anything about the upcoming film
When co-hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager asked Pine about the news during his Oct. 8 appearance about his return, the actor seemingly had no idea about it.
Pine added, “I don’t know anything. Call Disney. Call Bob Iger. I don’t know anything about it.”
Although he’s unaware about his return it doesn’t mean he’s uninterested. As the 44-year-old added, “I think it’s fantastic and I would love to come back.”
Pine always shows a soft spot for this movie in his heart for the movie as earlier this year he revealed how his role as Nicholas Devereaux in the 2004 romantic comedy was the turning point of his career.
The Wonder Woman alum said on Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist, “I was driving on the freeway—it was the height of summer— and I got a call from my agents that I booked the job. I pulled over onto the side of the freeway and they said, ‘You’re getting paid $65,000.’ It was like they’d just told me I’d made $50 million. It was absolutely earth-shattering.”
The actor continues, “I just remember distinctly knowing in that moment that my life had changed somehow.”
Chris’s reaction comes days after it was revealed that Crazy Rich Asians screenwriter Adele Lim took the director’s hat replacing Garry Marshall who directed the first two films before his death in 2016.
Lim shared her excitement in a statement adding, “As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries. We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy, and mentorship with audiences worldwide.”
The complete cast and release of the much-anticipated venture is yet to be disclosed.
