Arjun Kanungo was becoming one of the rising music sensations of India with his popular singles like ‘Fursat’, ‘Baaki Baatein Peene Baad’, ‘Sirikkadhey’ and ‘Aaya Na Tu.’ Unfortunately, fate planned some unexpected circumstances for the young man leading to his disappearance for two long years. Last year it was reported that the singer-actor fractured his hip after a fall in Maldives. However, with a strong mind and determination, Kanungo is back in the game. In a recent interview with Indian Times, he noted how he’s coping with this difficult moment of his time.
Arjun Kanungo opened up about the disappointing moment of his life
In February 2023 while Arjun and his wife Carla were in the Maldives enjoying a quality time the accident happened.
He got injured in his hip joint. Although he thought the injury might be minor, as the pain increased he flew back to Mumbai, and after an MRI, doctors found out that he had fractured his hip, and surgery was the only way. However, he tried to manage without surgery.
Addressing the accident that affected his music career he noted, “It took me six months of physio to walk without pain. Also, due to kidney issues, was I was asked to go vegan, I didn’t eat meat, but I ended up having a lot of sweets. And when I looked at myself, I didn’t like my own body. I was shocked to see myself. Outside, people didn’t recognise me, neither did I. I wasn’t making any music, and I couldn’t face the camera like that.”
Despite having the pitfalls in life he is now back with force, having an album on the way as well as an interesting project with AR Rahman. He shared, “I’ve been working silently for other people, making my album, and shooting a video for someone else in Tokyo. Now we’re into something big which I’ll announce soon hopefully! Also, I have my first project now with AR Rahman sir.”
Born and raised in Mumbai, Kanungo has an immense dedication to music. Moreover, he also received training as a method actor from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. The singer’s last release Dil Kisi Se came in 2021. Needless to say, there’s a lot to come from the singer.
