Indians have witnessed their darkest period in cricket history. The men in blue get totally thrashed by New Zealand in the third and final match of the three-test series.  The team that had only two Test wins to show in 70 years of touring India, created history by becoming the first-ever side to win all Tests in a series on their own.

After the end of the second innings, the Kiwis were all-out in just 174 which gave the hosts a target of only 147 runs which seems to be an easy chase. However, the back-to-back fall of wickets ended India’s innings in just 121 runs leading to a disastrous defeat. Let’s see the complete highlights of the 3rd test of the series.

With the low target, the hosts started the game with a winning spirit. Yet, the team lost the crucial wickets of the skipper Rohit Sharma putting only 13 runs on the board. Later, the batsman completely failed to make the mark with the disappointing 1 run of Virat Kohli, Shubham Gill, and Sarfaraz Khan, following Jaiswal’s 5 runs. The disastrous performance of the top-order batters is continued by the all-rounder as well. Only Rishabh Pant tried to put the Kiwis under pressure with his incredible half-century, but unfortunately got out on an umpire’s call in the ball of Ajaz Patel.

With their magnificent performances Matt Henry, Rachin Ravindra, Will Young, Mitchell Santner, and Ajaz Patel were highly praised by the New Zealand media.

On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s captaincy is under the security of sports critics and media while Pant is hailed for his resilience and dedication to the game.

After this disastrous defeat, Kohli and Sharma who are regarded as the greatest batsmen of this generation are getting thrashed by the netizens online demanding their retirement from Test cricket as well.

India dropped from the WTC ranking

After the three back-to-back defeats India slipped out from their no.1 position in the World Test Championship ranking with a PCT dip of 58.33, placing behind defending champions Australia who has the PTC of 62.5.

In order to play the WTC final, Rohit Sharma’s team can’t afford another loss in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia scheduled from 22nd November.
