Netflix’s hit show Outer Banks has officially ended after a fifth and final season. With the news of its getting renewed the makers also revealed that this season is going to be the show’s last season. Writers and creators of the show Jonas Pate, Shannon Burke, and Josh Pate clarified that they intended for this for a long period. In a statement posted of the Outer Banks Instagram, the trio unveiled this heartbreaking news to the fans. Burke, Pate, and Pate stated in the Instagram post, “From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship. At the time, seven years ago, it seemed impossible that we would really get to tell the whole five-season story, but here we are, at the end of our fourth season, still chopping away.”
In fact, they promised that the finale would have the “best, most powerful episode.”
“Now, with a little sadness, but also excitement, we’re putting Season Four behind us, and are turning to Season Five,” the statement continues, “in which we hope to bring our beloved Pogues home in the way we imagined and planned years ago.”
While there have been no details about the release of the final, the writers were quite certain that the show’s ending will create magic, noting, “Season Five will be our last season, and we think it will be our best yet. We hope you’ll join us for one more paddle out to the surf break.”
Following the report of the finale, the teen drama’s actor Chase Stokes who portrays John B. Routledge shared a heartfelt note on the ending of such an incredible journey.
The actor on his Instagram, “My hearts heavy writing this one…One last ride. Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you. It’s always gonna be Pogues 4 Life.”
