As per the reports of Republic World, the singer has been battling multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since 2018. Here’s the complete details of the story.
Sharda Sinha was batting with cancer
The singer was reported to be battling with a severe type of blood cancer in 2018. Although she was stable during these and was quickly recovering from the treatments, the sudden passing of her husband Brij Kishore Sinha, earlier this year put her in immense grief and agony.
AIIMS, the hospital where she died, released a statement at the time she was admitted.
They wrote on their X handle, “Noted folk singer, Smt. Sharda Sinha is admitted in AIIMS, New Delhi for treatment. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji is continuously monitoring her condition and is in direct contact with the treating doctors. He has conveyed his prayers for her good health and speedy recovery through the treating team.”
Sadly, the singer’s son Anshuman Sinha confirmed the news via a post on her Instagram handle. Earlier Anshuman also provided details on her health state via his YouTube Live.
The Journey of Sharda Sinha
Coming from a small town in Bihar, Sinha gained huge acclaim for singing regional songs in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, and Hindi. Nevertheless, she became known for lending her voice to devotional songs and also sang a few commercial tracks.
In case you don’t know, she sang the song “Kahe Toh Se Sajna” from Salman Khan’s 1989 block sector Maine Pyar Kia. The song “Taar Bijli” from Anurag Kashyap-helmed Gangs of Wasseypur 2 and “Kaun Si Nagaria” from the movie Chaarfutiya Chhokare is also one of her pieces.
However, the song that gave her nationwide popularity is the Chhath Ke Geet, dedicated to the auspicious Chhath puja.
Needless to say, this year’s Chhath puja celebration will never be the same.
