Comedian and writer Conan O’Brien is all set to host the 97th Oscars in 2025. On November 15, Friday the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the news Friday. He will succeed fellow comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the prestigious event for two consecutive years, adding to four in total. For O’Brien, this will be his first time hosting the annual award show. You can watch the event live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on ABC on March 2, 2025, Sunday.

Oscars shared an official statement on welcoming Conan O’Brien as the new host
Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Janet Yang said in a joint statement on welcoming the Emmy-winner as the prestigious Awards ceremony’s first ever host.
The statement reads, “We are thrilled and honoured to have the incomparable Conan O’Brien host the Oscars this year. He is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humour, his love of movies and his live TV expertise.”
They continue, “His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best-honour the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year.”
The 61-year-old also shared a cheeky response on having this honor.
The comedian jokes, “America demanded it and now it’s happening: Taco Bell’s new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I’m hosting the Oscars.”
Despite being a debutant in the Oscars he is no stranger to hosting Award shows as he previously successfully hosted the Primetime Emmys in 2002 and 2006, as well as the MTV Movie Awards in 2014. Therefore it isn’t hard to assume that his fans will be incredibly excited to see him filling these shoes.
