The Andaman and Nicobar Islands – one of the most spectacular beach destinations in India consists of some striking natural wonders and unexplored mysteries. Apart from this, there is no such place as the Andamans in case of eccentric destinations. And one such lesser-known wonder here is the incredible Parrot Island.
Here are some interesting facts about this enormous island:
Now the question arises, how to reach Parrot Island? You will have to take a small open boat to reach the mysterious island. This is because the government hasn’t started any particular water transport services yet.
You can avail of these boat services from the Baratang Jetty. This magical boat ride will lead you through a wondrous creek for about 30 minutes.
Here you will find a different variety of mangrove trees that look to be evenly shaped. These varieties are not man-made instead made by numerous parrots that visit the island at different hours of the day.
The forest consists of salt water which is home to dangerous crocodiles so make sure to maintain distance from the water.
For the birdwatchers, Parrot Island is a paradise. According to the Baratang locals, a group of five parrots visit the island every evening and examine the whole area.
And later, about hundreds of parrots visit the island and stay in the forest for the night.
In addition to parrots, visitors will also get to see a huge flock of parakeets, the unbelievably beautiful multi-coloured birds which are also considered the most beautiful birds on earth.
However, you must wonder why is it known as Parrot Island? Apparently, every day more than a hundred parrots visit the island and trim these mangrove trees in a unique shape.
Moreover, they stay on the island overnight and complete the work and leave in the morning.
The best time to explore Parrot Island would be winter through the beginning of summer. The rest of the time, the island faces tropical storms which might cause issues.
