J.K. Rowling, the author of the “Harry Potter” series, is the latest person to fall prey to a hoax perpetrated by Russian comedians Vovan and Lexus. The duo convinced Rowling that she was on a video conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, president of Ukraine, and made her believe that the call was real.

The practical joke did not sit well with Rowling at all. In a statement sent to The Hollywood Reporter, her publicist criticised Vovan and Lexus, calling the scam “disgusting.” She was referring to the deception.

“J.K. Rowling received an invitation to discuss her substantial philanthropic work in Ukraine, which focuses on assisting children and families who are struggling due to the ongoing turmoil in the area. The discussion is shown in a manner that is not accurate because of the editing done to the video “a company representative said.

Rowling was tricked into believing that the false Zelenskyy would tell her that Harry Potter’s prominent forehead scar is similar to the “Z” mark that the Russian military has employed on tanks and other weaponry. The hoax was captured in a film that lasted for 12 minutes.

Pranksters asked J.K. Rowling if she would change Harry’s scar to a more pro-Ukraine symbol. In response, the author said, “I will look into that; it might be good for me to do something with that myself on social media because I think that will get into the newspapers.” I will look into that, and it might be good for me to do something with that myself on social media because I think that will get into the newspapers.

The pranksters allegedly warned Rowling that the Ukraine military would begin printing “Avada Kedavra” on its missiles, a reference to the deadly curse in the “Harry Potter” series.

In the past, the Russian comedians have played practical jokes on Elton John, Prince Harry, Billie Eilish, Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders, and former President George W. Bush. Rowling is the most recent victim of their antics.
