On Saturday, Disney’s Marvel announced several superhero movies including two brand new Avengers films at Comic-Con. It also gave fans a first glimpse at the upcoming Black Panther movie. Marvel films have dominated Hollywood and box offices all over the world in recent times. In 2019, Avengers: Endgame became the highest-grossing film of all time with $2.79 billion. Towards the end of the presentation at Comic-Con, president Kevin Feige said, “I wonder if you guys wouldn’t mind looking ahead a little bit”? Then, he announced the two new Avengers movies. The films are titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. They will be released in 2025.
The two films will follow in the footsteps of Avengers: Endgame. The two new Avengers movies conclude the next “saga” of more than a dozen interconnected films and television shows in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He further added, “That will complete the second saga of the MCU, which of course is ‘The Multiverse Saga”.
In 2019, Marvel released the last Avengers film, Avengers: Endgame
The recent Marvel franchise films and shows have explored the “multiverse” concept in which infinite universes — and infinite versions of each hero and villain — exist in parallel realities. In addition, other Marvel films announced included Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four. Both films will be released in 2024.
The president, Kevin Feige, also announced dates for two more movies. Firstly, Blade, November 2023. Secondly, the newly titled Captain America: New World Order coming in May 2024. Bill Murray and Olivia Colman join the list of Hollywood A-listers joining the Marvel franchise. They appeared in the first-look clip from the movies Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Disney series Secret Invasion respectively.
Chris Pratt, Paul Rudd, and Lupita Nyong’o also appeared on stage Saturday along with Jonathan Majors, whose Kang the Conqueror character appears to become a major new supervillain for the franchise.
