2022 MTV VMAs: Here are the nominees for the Video Music Awards

On Tuesday, MTV announced the nominations for the Video Music Awards (VMAs). Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow, and Kendrick Lamar received the most number of nominations. All three of them received seven nominations for their work in the music industry. Lil Nas and Jack Harlow share a lot of their nominations for their work together on the song “Industry Baby” These nominations include Video of the Year and Best Collaboration. The duo is also nominated for Artist of the Year along with Drake, Bad Bunny, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, and Lizzo. 

Kendrick Lamar is nominated for the first time since 2018 for the VMAs. His nominations include Best Hip-Hop, for “N95”; Video for Good, for “The Heart Part 5”; and Best Direction, for “Family Ties.” Harry Styles and Doja Cat received six nominations each. On the other hand, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and The Weeknd received five nominations. Madonna, the Queen of Pop, made history as the only nominated artist in each decade since the MTV VMAs began. In addition, Madonna is also the most awarded artist in VMAs history. She has won 20 times. With “Madame X”, she now boasts 69 VMAs nominations in total. 

The MTV Video Music Awards will air on August 8, Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, the CW, BET, BET Her, CMT, Comedy Central, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TVLand, and VH1. Below is the list of top nominations for the top categories:
