Actress Ana De Armas takes the internet by storm with her new look as legendary actress Marilyn Monroe in Netflix’s upcoming film ‘Blonde’. But soon after the trailer (https://youtu.be/aIsFywuZPoQ ) dropped on 28th June netizens found her accent extremely awkward in spite of having uncanny similarities with the late icon. The Netizens started questioning her casting in this Andrew Dominik directorial.Though the film isn’t authorised by the Marilyn Monroe estate still they supported De Armas casting in the film.
Vanity Fair reports the defence of De Armas by the Marilyn Monroe estate
According to the reports of Vanity Fair, despite the backlash, the Marilyn Monroe estate defended the Cuban actress amid the controversy. Marc Rosen, the president of entertainment at Authentic Brands Group(ABG), which owns the Marilyn Monroe Estate said “……Based on the trailer alone, it looks like Ana was a great casting choice as she captures Marilyn’s glamour, humanity and vulnerability. We can’t wait to see the film in its entirety!”
The director of the film Andrew Dominik also clarified that the film is not to offend anyone.

Ana De Armas took a year to mould into the accent of Monroe
Ana De Armas previously said in an interview with The Times of London that she spent nearly a year adapting the icon’s accent. The actress said that also took ADR sessions. Moreover, she described the process as extremely exhausting.
The Casting of the film
‘Blonde’ is based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates of the same title. The drama fictionalised the story of Norma Jeane as she was rising to fame as Marilyn Monroe. The other cast of the film included Bobby Cannavale, Julianne Nicholson, Adrien Brody, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.
The film will have a premiere at the 2022 Venice Film Festival. Moreover, it will start streaming on Netflix from 28 September.
