In a recent interview with Variety ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ director Olivia Wilde opened up about the reason behind replacing Shia LaBeouf. The film released on 23rd September. Back in April of 2020, it was announced that Shia LaBeouf is going to play the main lead in the upcoming film. However, in December Harry Styles mysteriously replaced LaBeouf in the role of Jack. Wilde finally broke her silence on this issue. Let’s find out what she said!
Why did Olivia Wilde fire LaBeouf?
In a conversation with Variety Olivia Wilde finally broke her silence. Shia LaBeouf is previously cast opposite Florence Pugh in the highly anticipated film Don’t Worry Darling. But in December the news of Harry Styles replacing LaBeouf revealed. Wilde told why she made such a decision. “His process was not conducive to the ethos that I demand in my productions. He has a process that, in some ways, seems to require combative energy, and I don’t personally believe that is conducive to the best performances”, she said in the interview.
She, later on, told about her intention to give a safe environment to her team. As she continues, “Ultimately, my responsibility is to the production and to the cast to protect them. That was my job.”
Besides, she added, “Particularly with a movie like this, I knew that I was going to be asking Florence to be in very vulnerable situations, and my priority was making her feel safe and making her feel supported.”
According to her she only wanted to give supportive energy. However, that wasn’t possible for LaBeouf’s involvement in several controversies.
“A lot came to light after this happened that really troubled me, in terms of his behaviour,” she said.

Accusations against LaBeouf
As per the reports, LaBeouf was accused of relentless abuse and sexual battery by their ex-girlfriend FKA Twigs. So we can assume Wilde is referring to something like this. After his replacement, FKA Twigs also filed a lawsuit against him.
