Netflix’s Jeffery Dahmer series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story hit the streaming platform on September 21. Since then it’s received a lot of praise and criticism at the same time. Based on the real-life story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, the show has become one of the fastest-streaming shows on Netflix. However, Dahmer’s victim’s family didn’t take this show in a good way. The show brings back horrific memories of their life. Previously Rita Isbell, sister of Dahmer’s 19-year-old victim Errol Lindsey, slammed the show. And now Dahmer’s other victim Toney Hughes’ mother Shirley Hughes called out the show. Let’s see what she says!
Shirley Hughes criticized Netflix’s show for putting her son’s name
Hughes expresses her resentment about the show while talking with The Guardian about the show. Her son Toney Hughes was murdered by Dahmer in May 1991 at the age of 31. Hughes said the snow wrong occurrence of her son’s tragedy. “It didn’t happen like that. I don’t see how they can do that,”- the 85-year-old said.
Later on, added, “I don’t see how they can use our names and put stuff out like that out there.”Toney Hughes’ murder was shown in the ‘sixth’ episode of the series.
Before Shirley’s statement, another victim’s sister Rita Isbell also slammed the show. She is the sister of Dahmer’s victim Errol Lindsey. Lindsey is murdered at the age of 19 in April 1991. “I feel like Netflix should’ve asked if we mind or how we felt about making it. They didn’t ask me anything. They just did it but I’m not money hungry, and that’s what this show is about, Netflix trying to get paid. Sadly, they’re just making money off of this tragedy, That’s just greed”. – Isbell told an insider.
