‘The crown’ Emma Corrin said in an interview with The Sunday Times that Princess Diana is ‘queer’ in many ways. The British actor got a lot of recognition for her iconic portrayal of the late princess. They have come under a lot of spotlights after portraying the former Princess of Wales in the fourth season of the famous Netflix series. In July of 2021, the Emmy winner has come out as a queer and later in 2022 changed her pronouns to ‘they/them”.
Why does Emma Corrin believe Diana is ‘queer’?
In a recent interview with Lotte Jeffs for The Sunday Times Corrin said this statement. They said,” in many ways, Diana was so queer” because she was an “other” within the royal family and embraced “outsiders” throughout her life.”
The discussion comes after Jeffs noted that Corrin and Kristen Stewart are two queer actors who on played Princess Diana onscreen. Stewart portrayed Diana in the 2021 Pablo Larraín directorial “Spencer”, which earned a huge global recognition. Stewart even earned her first Oscar nomination. Corrin’s explanation can be regarded as metaphoric symbolism of the Late Princess’s troubled life as a Royal. The British actor portrayed Diana’s troubled marriage in season 4 of ‘The Crown’.
Corrin shared their thoughts on the new Princess Diana of the series
During the interview, Corrin also was also asked about their thoughts on Elizabeth Debicki inheriting the role from them. In response, the 26-year-old said, “She’s lovely, but we haven’t actually talked that much about Diana. I think she’s aware that I’m here if she ever wanted to ask a question, though.
“Moreover, season five of the series is all set to hit Netflix in November of this year. Debicki is also ready to portray the princess of Wales in this season. The Australian actress also shared her thoughts on portraying this iconic role of Lady D. “It is my true privilege and honor to be joining this masterful series, which has had me absolutely hooked from episode one.”- Debicki said.
Needless to say, fans are eagerly waiting for the new season.
