Octavia Spencer announced the death of her friend Sonya Eddy. The ‘General Hospital actress passed away on December 19 at age 55. Eddy famously portrayed the character of nurse Epiphany Johnson in General Hospital. On December 20, Spencer gave a tribute to her late friend on Instagram. It’s indeed heartbreaking news for the General Hospital fans.

After the unfortunate death of Sonya Eddy on 19th December the Hidden Figures alum gave tribute to her friend on Instagram on 20th December.
The actress wrote, “My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”
Sonya’s death was also confirmed by business partner Tyler Ford. Ford released a statement announcing the sad news. “It with the heaviest heart that I have to announce the sudden passing of my business partner, creative soulmate, and best friend Sonya Eddy.”She left an indelible imprint on every person that she touched, through the screen and off. In honor of her memory contributions can be made to The Foundation of the National Student Nurses Association Inc.”- the statement follows.
General Hospital’s executive producer Frank Valentini, shared a post saying he is “heartbroken about the loss of the incredible @sonyaeddy.”
He tweeted, “I truly loved her, not only as an actress but as a friend. The lights in the hub of the nurse’s station will now be a little dimmer, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set. On behalf of the entire #GeneralHospital cast and crew, we send our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and fans. She will be very missed.”
Eddy’s fellow General Hospital actress Eden McCoy also plays tribute to her Instagram Story. McCoy wrote, “Rest In Peace to the Great Sonya Eddy.”
