Netflix is all set to revisit Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s courtroom battle in a new documentary Depp v. Heard. The trailer of the documentary was released on July 27. Moreover, as we see from the trailer it will go beyond the court and examine every intimate detail of the defamation case of Johnny Depp and his ex-wife. The trial room took place in the spring of 2022 after the Parties of The Caribbean star filed a $50 million lawsuit against Amber.

The Netflix documentary will start streaming on August 16. Moreover, from the trailer, we can see the experts have re-examined the case unbiasedly. As one said, “Depp was the one who wanted the cameras in the courtroom, she didn’t.I would argue it’s a PR campaign disguised as a defamation case.”
Later on, another added, “This has moved away from a news story or a lawsuit and has transformed into a cultural moment.”
Moreover, the doc also referred to the case as the “first Trial by TikTok” because of its enormous popularity online. It also investigates how public opinion played an important role in the case and “questions the nature of truth and the role it plays in our modern society.
The trailer ended by saying, “And that leads us to the real question. What is the actual truth?”
Talking about the case, in 2020 filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard for a 2018 op-ed she wrote for the Washington Post where without name she wrote about, a “public figure representing domestic abuse.”
The Aquaman star also filed a counter lawsuit of $100 against Deep. As per the verdict of the Jury, Heard was found guilty of three counts of defamation and Deep liable for one count. The actor was rewarded with $10 million while the actress get $2 million.
On December 16, the 37-year-old announced that she’d “made a very difficult decision” to settle the case and paid the 60-year-old $1 million settlement.
