‘Full House’ creator Jeff Franklin shared the reason John Stamos tried to quit the show. During his appearance on Dave Coulier’s new PodCo series, Full House Rewind Franklin he and Coulier reminisced about the original series. The original series starred Bob Saget, John Stamos, Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Ashley Olsen. Therefore, he shared that Sweetin was the first actor to be cast in the series. When Coulier said, “I remembered our first table read.” to which Franklin recalled, “Where there’s a room full of studio and network executives. They were all there to see Stamos, I think.”
“Jodie just stole the show,” Coulier said.
“Stole the whole thing,” the creator agreed.
“And I remember walking out with John,” Coulier revealed. “He’s like, ‘The whole show is going to be her. We can’t do this!'”
Franklin recalled that “much later” Stamos “was so upset about having to play second fiddle to these really funny kids, that he went out and called his agent and said, ‘This is a mistake. Get me off this show.'”
Moreover, Franklin revealed that he did a secret chemistry test between Saget, Stamos,Also and Coulier on the set of the ’80s sitcom, Perfect Strangers. Although he cast John Posey in the role of Danny Tanner and filmed a pilot, after he knew Saget was “available and interested” in Full House, he did a meeting with the trio.
“That was kind of a secret chemistry test that I put together, so I had something to show people,” Franklin explained, “because Bob was not an actor either. And he wasn’t Bob Saget yet.”

Therefore, he added, “I just had this gut instinct that Bob could be one of those classic TV dads. I just fought for him as hard as I could. I said, ‘This is going to make the show so much better. We have to do this.’ It took a lot of convincing and they finally said OK.”
