Ryan Gosling shared the moment he fell in love with his wife Eva Mendes. In a new cover story for GQ’s Global Summer issue, the actor opened up about his journey with Mendes. They acted opposite each other in 2012’s movie The Place Beyond the Pines, where the Barbie star first has the realization that Eva is the one for him.
Ryan Gosling said he didn’t want to have kids without Eva
The 42-year-old told the outlet, “I wasn’t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn’t want to have kids without her. And there were moments on The Place Beyond the Pines where we were pretending to be a family, and I didn’t really want it to be pretend anymore. I realized that this would be a life I would be really lucky to have.”
The couple is the proud parents of two daughters Esmeralda, (born in 2014) and Amada,( born in 2016).
Moreover, the La La Land star revealed how he prioritized his family more after having kids. On top of that, the couple didn’t have a nanny so they could give their entire lives to their daughters.
“I would never want to go back, you know?” Gosling says. “I’m glad I didn’t have control over my destiny in that way, because it was so much better than I ever had dreamed for myself.”
“I just lean on Eva,” he says of her lady love. “She knows what’s important, always. She just somehow knows. So if ever I’m in my head about it, I just ask her.”
The actor said of the films he did after having kids,”I treat it more like work now, and not like it’s, you know, therapy. It’s a job, and I think in a way that allows me to be better at it because there’s less interference.”
However, for now, Gosling is celebrating the gigantic success of his new movie Barbie, where he played the iconic Ken Doll.
