Olivia Rodrigo should have been more ‘Happier’ without the pressure of her stardom. In a recent interview with The New York Times, the Grammy winner shared that her debut album ‘Sour’ brought her stardom as well as a licence to “make mistakes.” Moreover, the singer also revealed how her approach towards life has changed after fame. Olivia Rodrigo said she dated people she shouldn’t have
The 20-year-old said of the success the 2021 album brought her, “I had such a desire to live and experience things and make mistakes and grow after Sour came out, I kind of felt this pressure to be this girl that I thought everyone expected me to be. And I think because of that pressure, maybe I did things that maybe I shouldn’t have — dated people I shouldn’t have.”
However, she didn’t address any name, looking at her dating history she dated 26-year-old producer Adam Faze, but the two split in early 2022. Later on, she was with 27-year-old DJ Zack Bia, the relationship also ended in August 2022.
Moreover, she talked about the rumours that the new Guts album is about her unsuccessful relationship with her High School Musical: The Musical: The Series co-star, Joshua Bassett.
She said of the album is,”about reckoning with those feelings and coming out of that disillusionment and realizing the core of who I am and what I want to be doing and who I want to be spending my time with.”
Guts album’s breakup anthem “Vampire“, which topped the Billboard chart, is about Rodrigo’s romance with an older guy who used her fame.
The lyrics of the song include, “I’ve made some real big mistakes/ You make the worst one look fine/ I should have known it was strange/ You only come out at night./I used to think I was smart/ But you made me look so naive/ The way you sold me for parts/ You sunk your teeth into me/ Blood sucker, fame f**ker/ Bleeding me dry like a god d**n vampire.”
