Kelly Clarkson is ready to have a fine and fit beginning this year. In an interview on January 3 published by People, the ‘Stronger’ singer opened up about her body transformation. Clarkson revealed her recent shift to New York City helped kickstart her health and fitness journey. Kelly relocated with her children River, 8, and Remington, 6 after her heartbreaking divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock after seven years of marriage.
Needless to say, her recent transformation has become an inspiration for fitness freaks from all over the world. Let’s delve into more details about Kelly’s fitness journey.
Kelly said walking in New York City is quite the workout
The 41-year-old told the outlet, “Walking in the city is quite the workout. And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down.”
Apart from exercise and trying new wellness practices the singer also made several new upgrades to her lifestyle.
Clarkson said of her diet, “I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor—a couple years I didn’t. And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway.”
Moreover, she added, “I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!”
The singer who previously lived in L.A recently moved to New York with her kids River Rose, 9, and son Remington Alexander, 7, who she shares with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The ‘Broken & Beautiful’ singer even said she was not happy in L.A and needed “ a fresh start.”
Previously, in an interview at NBC, the Grammy winner explained the way of discussing her plans to move across the country.
“‘I’m not trying to sound ungrateful, I just can’t stay here anymore for my mental health; for me and my kids,'” Kelly recalled.”They weren’t doing well either. For the past few years, I’d just been showing up and smiling and doing what I’m supposed to do, but you can only compartmentalize so long until you break.”
Moreover, she continued, “To be able to come into season five feeling good and knowing my kids feel good—and the dust has settled. Season five is my first season to actually enjoy every minute of it.”
Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s kids were heartbroken after their divorce
However, despite the singer and her kids being in a good place right now, it wasn’t always the case since they were reportedly heartbroken after their parents’ separation.
On the March 13 episode of The Angie Martinez IRL Podcast Clarkson shared the insight into the situation.
She said, “I literally ask my kids every night when we’re snuggling, ‘Are you happy? And if you’re not, what could make you happier? Sometimes they’ll say, especially the past two years, and it kills me and I want them to be honest, so I don’t ever say, ‘Oh god, don’t tell me that,’ but a lot of times it would be like, ‘You know, I’m just really sad. I wish mommy and daddy were in the same house.’”
Later on she revealed that “they’re really honest about it,” and shared the reason for being glad they’re candid. “I’m raising that kind of individual. I want you to be honest with me,” she said.
On top of that Kelly can totally understand her children’s situation since she has been in their place before. “I just sit there and I’m like, ‘I get it. I’m from a divorced family as well. I get it. That sucks. But we’re going to work it out. And you are so loved by both of us,'” Kelly shared. “I think communicating with them and not treating them—not treating them like an adult, because they’re not—but not treating them like a child. They’re not small feelings. Those are huge feelings, and those are huge emotions.”
Furthermore, the singer added, “My kids ask me all the time, ‘So you don’t love him anymore? I’m like, ‘No, I don’t know if that goes away.’”
Meanwhile, talking about her new love in the future, the singer is open to relationships; however, marriage isn’t her cup of tea. Since she said, “I won’t be getting married. In my life, I’ve been through a couple of divorces in my own family as a kid. I would love to fall in love. I would love to find someone and fall in love and do that thing, but I have children and that’s why I say [that.]”
However, it doesn’t mean she is fully “against marriage” as she noted, “I didn’t have the most positive experience with step-situations and re-marrying and I didn’t have the most positive situation growing up. I will not do that to my children. I would love to fall in love, but I don’t want another dude in my house with my children.”
Hope Kelly and her kids can fully enjoy their happy family life in New York.
