Kate Middleton Hospitalized for Abdominal Surgery

Kate Middleton is taking a break from her royal duties. On January 17 Kensington Palace released a statement sharing the insights on Princess of Wales’s health. Her hospitalization comes days after she celebrated her 42 birthday. As per the statement, the princess has been admitted to The London Clinic for the surgery that took place Tuesday. The Kensington Palace’s statement reads, “The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

Although Middleton “appreciates the interest” that this news will bring, “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

Moreover, the statement said the only “significant” will be shared regarding the Princess’s health.

“The Princess of Wales wishes to apologize to all those concerned for the fact that she has to postpone her upcoming engagements. She looks forward to reinstating as many as possible, as soon as possible,” the statement ends.

As per the sources, the princess who shared three children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 with husband Prince William has suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum during all of her pregnancies. The condition causes severe vomiting during pregnancy. 

The surgery came days after her 42 birthday. Her father-in-law King Charles III, Kate wished her on this special day writing, “Wishing The Princess of Wales a very happy birthday today!”

According, to Vanity Fair, the mother of three invited a “low-key” birthday celebration only with a “special birthday tea and a homemade cake.” 

Along with Kate her father-in-law King Charles III also “has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate” as per the statement Buckingham Palace.

“His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure,” the statement revealed. “The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”

Meanwhile, following the announcement Kate’s husband William, Prince of Wales will postpone a “number of engagements” to stand by her wife’s side. 

A palace source told NBC News that the heir to the throne is now postponing his official duties until Her Royal Highness recover.
