Sofía Vergara revealed the real cause behind her split with Joe Manganiello. The Modern Family alum and the Magic Mike actor who parted ways six months ago have wanted different things in life which have become the cause of their breakup. In a recent interview with Spanish newspaper El País, the actress shared the insights of her and Manganiello’s marriage. Let’s delve into the entire details of this story.
Sofía Vergara said his husband wanted to have kids and she didn’t want to be an old mom
The 51-year-old told the outlet about her 47-year-old ex-husband, “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids and I didn’t want to be an old mom. I feel it’s not fair to the baby. I respect whoever does it, but that’s not for me anymore.”
Moreover, the actress, a mother to 32-year-old son Manolo with ex-husband Joe Gonzalez, is looking forward to a new relationship in his life.
“I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother,” the actress continued. “So, if love comes along, he has to come with [his own] children. I’m almost in menopause; it’s the natural way of things. When my son becomes a dad, let him bring the baby to me for a while and then I’ll give it back to him and go on with my life; that’s what I have to do.”
The pair who was married for seven and a half years said at the time of their split, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Previously, on an episode of CBS Sunday Morning, the actress also talked about the “surprising” media response to her divorce.
“That’s part of being a celebrity,” Griselda actress said. “I knew it was going to happen. You can’t hide those things.”
“It wasn’t bad,” the actress continued. “I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. I thought they were going to invent more things. You know how they usually [do], and I was surprised. They kind of just said what it was, and that was it. I’ve been moving on.”
However, it isn’t Vergara who moved on as Joe and actress Caitlin O’Connor made their red carpet debut as a couple last month.
