Barbie actor Margot Robbie opens up about the feeling of Oscar suns. Robbie acts in the titular role along with producing was missed from the nomination for the Best Actress in the award. Like the actress, director Greta Gerwig was also omitted from the Best Director race. Since then the topic has heated up in the internet and netizens are slamming the Award show for being misogynistic. On January 30, gave a reaction to this snub as per the sources of the Deadline. Margot said there’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed
The 31-year-old actress seemingly has no bad blood regarding her exclusion although she felt Gerwig is extremely deserving for the nominations.
“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed,” the actress said. “Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director, because what she did is a once-in-a-career, once-in-a-lifetime thing, what she pulled off, it really is.”
Despite being excluded from the Best Actor and Best Director race the duo has been nominated in other categories. Robbie bagged the nomination as the producer as the film is nominated in Best Picture category, while Greta pulled off the nomination as a writer in the Best Adapted Screenplay along with her co-writer and husband Noah Baumbach.
Moreover, the Wolf Of Wall Street shared her happiness for the film’s eight nominations in the Academy.
“We set out to do something that would shift culture,” Margot continued. “And it’s already done that. Way more than we ever dreamed it would. And that is truly the biggest reward that could come out of all of this.”
Prior to Robbie, her co-star in the film Ryan Gosling who picked the nomination as Best Supporting Actor also shared his disappointment with the nomination.
“There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie,” Gosling said in a statement to E! News, “the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.”
On top of that, actress America Ferrera, who got her first-ever Oscar nod as the Best Supporting Actress for playing Gloria in Barbie also seems heartbroken by Greta and Margot’s exclusion.
“It’s really a disappointment. It’s just so undeniable what they created. How unprecedented, how unexpected,” Ferrera told The Today Show on Jan. 24. “And I think that’s what people are bummed about.”
