Country music legend Dolly Parton finally addressed Elle King’s drunken performance at her Nashville tribute concert on Jan. 19. King has been facing a lot of backlash for this. The star-studded performance was held to celebrate Parton’s 78th birthday concert. In a February 8th interview with ExtraTV, the singer revealed how she actually feels about the incident. Let’s delve into the complete details of this story.

Dolly Parton said Elle is really a great artist

Parton said in the interview, “Elle is really a great artist, she’s a great girl, She’s been going through a lot of things lately, and she just had a little too much to drink.”

The 78-year-old then asked everyone to forget and be kind to each other. She added, “So let’s just forgive that and forget that and move on ’cause she felt worse than anybody ever could.”

Months after the “Jolene” singer’s understanding words arrived, Elle confessed to being “f—king hammered” on stage at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.

as she messed up the lyrics of Dolly’s 2001 hit ballad “Marry Me.”

After messing up some lines the singer managed to sing, “I don’t know the lyrics to this thing in this f—king town/ Don’t tell Dolly ’cause it’s her birthday.”

The 34-year-old later quipped,”I’m not even gonna f—king lie, you bought tickets for this s–t? You ain’t getting your money back.”

Afterwards the blunder in the event, the iconic country music hall which operates on a strict no-profanity rule had to issue an apology on X (Formally Known as Twitter).

They wrote, “Hi Judas, we deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance.”

However, Elle hasn’t publicly addressed the incident; she postponed a series of shows six days late. The singer who has been facing lots of backlash for the event previously also spoke about her complicated drinking problem.

In a February 2022 interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, the singer shared, “I get nervous before I go on stage, I have couple of drinks [first]. Drinking makes me less nervous about hitting the notes when I sing. If I don’t make them, it won’t sting as much.”
