King Charles III shared an emotional reaction for the overflowing of love and support from the supporters amid his ongoing cancer battle. As seen in a video shared by Sky News the monarch told Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during their meeting how he is overwhelmed by the reactions of his well-wishers. Charles’s cancer diagnosis was first announced by Buckingham Palace on February 5 without addressing the type of the disease. The cancer has been detected while the king was undergoing a surgery for prostate enlargement.
King Charles shared the support has reduced him to tears most of the time
While conversing with Prime Minister Sunak the 75-year-old monarch said, “I’ve had so many wonderful messages and cards,” adding the support had “reduced me to tears most of the time.”
Sunak encouraged the king by reminding, “We’re all behind you, the country’s behind you.”
Moreover, the duo also highlighted how the king’s decision of making his diagnosis public created awareness on cancer.
“I hear there’s been a lot more attention and interest on those main, wonderful cancer charities,” Charles shared , “many of which I’ve been patron for years.”
Amid the conversation the prime minister shared his excitement by seeing the monarch”looking so well,” to which His Majesty jokes, “it’s all done with mirrors.”
This isn’t the first time the King shares his gratitude to the public. Previously, on February 10, the Buckingham Palace released a statement where he acknowledged his well-wishers for giving him immense support.
“I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days,” he wrote. “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”
Previously in this week Charles and his late ex-wife Princess Diana’s second son Prince Harry addressed his father’s cancer diagnosis during his appearance in the Good Morning America.
The Duke of Sussex who is now residing in Los Angeles California with his Meghan Markel and kids Archie Harrison and Lilibet Diana said, “I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
Needless to say, the King’s more open and candid reaction can make us believe that the monarchy is adopting modernity.
