After Ranbir Kapoor, reports have been stating that Aamir Khan is the next choice for Anurag Basu’s much-anticipated Kishore Kumar biopic. Previously, reports were suggesting that Ranbir Kapoor backed off from playing the iconic singer-actor in the film. However, it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. A source of Pinkvilla has noted this exciting news. The actor-director pair have had multiple meetings so far hoping that things might fall into place soon although nothing hasn’t been confirmed yet. The film has always been close to the director’s heart. Let’s check out what the sources have revealed.
The movie will mark Aamir Khan’s first collaboration with Anurag Basu
The source of Pinkvilla noted, “The Kishore Kumar biopic is a subject close to the heart of Anurag Basu and producer Bhushan Kumar, and they are looking to bring it in the best possible way. Aamir Khan is also a big admirer of Kishore Kumar and loved the vision that Basu has. The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that’s what has fascinated Aamir the most.”
The source added, “Aamir has taken as many as 6 films into consideration, and every film is in different stages of development. While the script of Kishore Kumar’s biopic, Ujjwal Nikam biopic, and Rajkumar Santoshi’s comedy is locked, Ghajini 2, Lokesh Kanagaraj’s next, and Zoya Akhtar’s next are in the development stage. Aamir has liked all the films, and will take a call on his immediate next by the end of this year. Of the 6 films, he will do three for sure in different timelines and might let go of the other three.”
Khan has never worked with Anurag Basu before. Needless to say, if this news is accurate it’ll be incredibly exciting for the audience to see this versatile actor in a role of such a legendary figure of Indian cinema.

Basu is gearing up for filming an unnamed love story starring Kartik Aaryan and Triptii Dimri which is expected to be finished by April 2025.
As for Khan, he has the much-awaited Taare Zameen Par’s sequel Sitaare Zameen Par next on his list.
