Andrew Garfield and Dr. Kate Tomas officially parted ways. The Amazing Spider-Man actor and self-proclaimed “professional witch” and philosopher called it quits after a brief romance. Kate confirmed their breakup on October 11 via Instagram. The duo was last photographed in public together in July while attending the 2024 Wimbledon Tennis Championships in England together.
Moreover, they had earlier stepped out together as a couple in late March as they were holding hands during a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham at a restaurant in Malibu, Calif. Days after the couple were spotted shopping for groceries in Los Angeles. Let’s check out what the doctor has said in her Instagram post.
Kate Tomas said she and Andrew Garfield broke up months ago
When an Instagram user commented on the scholar’s Instagram page on Oct. 11 that if she’s “still dating Andrew Garfield? If so, tell him I’m a fan of him, please,” to which she responded, “We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved.”
The doctor and the Social Network actor and his ex were last photographed in public together last July.
The 41-year-old who has yet to publicly address the breakup has never commented on their romance.
On the same Instagram post a user also asked her, “Will you ever stop talking about Andrew?” to which the doctor who notes on her website that she has a degree of doctorate in Theology from the University of Oxford and is a “world expert in Mysticism and Catholic women mystics” responded, “Sweetheart, the only people who ever talk about or centre a man in my life, work, business and social media are women like you.”
Earlier in an interview with the Sunday Times, Tomas called out criticism about her relationship with the actor.
“It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man,” she told the outlet. “I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow.”
She also added, “They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst.” Addressing the most depressing thing about it she explained is the “misogynistic nature of that interest — criticism of how a woman looks, of what [she] does for work.”
