Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is set to create music for Shankar’s upcoming film, ‘Indian 2’ which is the much-anticipated sequel to the 1996 blockbuster starring Kamal Haasan. The movie was immensely adored by the audience for its music by AR Rahman. However, in the sequel Ravichander takes the responsibility from Rahman’s shoulder as Director S Shankar has chosen him instead of Rahman for this sequel. Therefore, Rahman’s absence from the film raised eyebrows after the project’s announcement. Finally during the audio launch of ‘Indian 2’ Anirudh reacted to the topic of the Grammy winner’s replacement. Let’s delve into all the details of this story.
Anirudh Ravichander answers the question of Rahman’s replacement in a quirky way
The musician answered the question in a quirky way by quoting a famous Rajinikanth dialogue from Sivaji: “Six ku apram seven da.. Rahman sir ku apram evan da” (just like after six there comes seven but who comes after Rahman sir?), filling the hall with laughter and applause from the audience.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, AR Rahman also talked about his replacement from ‘Indian 2’. He revealed that the main lead Kamal Haasan had approached him to be a part of the sequel. However, he noted that after years of collaboration with Shankar, starting with ‘Gentleman’ in 1993, he felt he should give chance to new making in order to make a change. Moreover, he also addressed the exhaustion after composing for Shankar’s ‘2.0’ starring Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar as leads.
Despite his absence from the film, the legendary musician revealed he is confident in Anirudh and hailed him as one of the most sought-after music directors in the South Indian film industry. Although he is not part of ‘Indian 2’, he will soon make his comeback with Kamal Haasan’s other movie in Mani Ratnam helmed ‘Thug Life’.
Apart from Hassan other prominent actors including Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Vivekh, Kajal Agarwal, SJ Suryah, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Samuthirakani, Nedumudi Venu, Delhi Ganesh, Manobala, Jagan, Kalidas Jayaram, and Gulshan Grover will also be seen in pivotal roles in Indian 2.
India 2 will hit the theatres on 12th July 2024.
