Ariana Grande revealed the reason she opted for a real name in the credits of her upcoming movie Wicked

The singer is credited by her full name Ariana Grande-Butera in the upcoming film as multiple outlets confirmed on November 1. The singer who plays Glinda the Good Witch in the upcoming film hyphenated the last name combined with the last names of her mother Joan Grande and father Edward Butera. Let’s check out the complete details of the story.

Ariana Grande said this experience was such a homecoming for me

On November 4, the singer at the preview appearance of her on The Streaming Service with Justin Hill alongside costar Cynthia Erivo opened up about the reason behind using her full name.

“Technically, it’s my little girl name,” she said, to which Erivo added, “Technically it’s little Ari’s name.”

Moreover, Grande added, “But, no, I just feel like this experience was such a homecoming for me. I feel like I came home to myself in a lot of ways through what I learned from Glinda, from [Cynthia’s character] Elphaba and, you know, that was my name when I went to see the show when I was 10 years old—and it felt like a really lovely way of honoring that.”

The “yes, and?” singer revealed that her decision “felt really full circle, and it just felt like something I really wanted to do.”

In fact, this isn’t the only thing Grande changed for her role as Glinda as she has also raised the pitch of her voice for her performance.

The 31-year-old said to Vanity Fair in September, “There is a part of the world that isn’t familiar with what it takes to transform your voice. whether it’s singing or taking on a different dialect for a role or doing a character voice for something.”

The Grammy winner also pointed out how things occur differently for men and women in the industry.

“When it’s a male actor that does it, it’s acclaimed,” she added. “There are definitely jokes that are made as well, but it’s always after being led with praise: ‘Oh, wow, he was so lost in the role.’ And that’s just a part of the job, really.”
