This Dangerous Woman never wasted any moment to put her haters in their place. In an interview with Vanity Fair published on September 30, Ariana Grande slammed her haters for questioning the change in her voice. The songstress pointed out the misogynistic point of view of the audience adding she adapted the change due to the role of Glinda the Good in the Wicked film adaptation, which is all set to storm into the theatres in November. Here are the complete details of what she has shared in the interview.
Ariana Grande said a male actor would have been treated differently in this same situation
The 31-year-old shared her disappointment to the outlet adding, “When it’s a male actor that does it, it’s acclaimed. There are definitely jokes that are made as well, but it’s always after being led with praise: ‘Oh, wow, he was so lost in the role.’ And that’s just a part of the job, really.”
This isn’t the first time Grande clapped back at her trolls as previously in her appearance at the podcast of Penn Badgley she also pointed out how for a woman it’s so difficult to be in the industry.
She said, “Tale as old as time being a woman in this industry. You are treated differently, and you are under a microscope in a way that some people aren’t.”
Grande also noted now she didn’t get bothered about the opinion of others.
“I am really proud of my hard work and of the fact that I did give 100 percent of myself, including my physicality, to this role,” she noted. “I’m proud of that, so I wanted to protect it.”
When her interview with the You alum went viral Ariana explained to a fan on Tiktok in June the reason for changing her vocal range is extremely essential.
“I intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much singing i’m doing,” she wrote on the social media platform. “I’ve always done this BYE.”
Ariana later on quipped adding, “god forbid I sneeze like Glinda.”
Wicked, which is going to release on November 22 of this year stars renowned actors like Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, and Peter Dinklage apart from Grande.
