B.J. Novak reflected on his romance with ex Mindy Kaling at the Guild Awards in Los Angeles. Kaling received the Norman Lear Lifetime Achievement Award at the award. The actor has something sweet said about his ex.
B.J. Novak said he and Mindy Kaling were reckless idiots
The 43-year-old said in the speech, “We were in love with each other, and we were reckless idiots.And the two of us would argue about all of these things forever—grinding the writers’ room to a halt until we got too upset and we’d go to our respective offices and slam the door, where we’d continue arguing over AOL Instant Messenger. It was 2005.”
Later on he said, “When the producers realized that our relationship as co-writers had jumped every conceivable boundary and become a tumultuous, romantic, toxic, boundaryless mess.they pulled us aside and said, ‘Hey, you should have scenes together too. You guys are pretty funny together.”
The couple were together for a short period of time but eventually split in 2007. However, the strong friendship remains enternal. On the NBC sitcom on-screen romance of Ryan Howard and Kelly Kapoor are inspired by their romance.
Moreover, the actor called The Mindy Project his “favorite work of hers.” He later on, revealed his gratefulness to have her in his life. Novak said, “She cares so much about everything. and I care so much about her.”
Kaling also thanks him during his acceptance speech,”I’m so lucky that my favorite writer is also my best friend. I love you”-she said.
Novak is also the godfather of kids Katherine, 5, and son Spencer, 2. It’s also speculated that he is their biological father as well. However, none of them talked about it.
