The Grammy winner in her recent interview with the GQ for the magazine’s latest cover story revealed her decision to retreat from the public eye in between promotional cycles for new projects. Beyoncé said she created at her own pace
The 43-year-old told the outlet, “I create at my own pace, on things that I hope will touch other people. I hope my work encourages people to look within themselves and come to terms with their own creativity, strength, and resilience.”
While working on her various artistic ventures, the “Texas Hold ‘Em’ singer noted her major focuses are “storytelling, growth and quality.”
“I’m not focused on perfectionism,” the Grammy winner added. “I focus on evolution, innovation, and shifting perception.”
Talking about her latest album and newly launched Sir Davis whisky, she said, “Working on the music for Cowboy Carter and launching this exciting new project [feels] nothing like prison, nor a burden.”
“In fact, I only work on what liberates me. It is fame that can at times feel like prison,” Beyoncé noted. “So, when you don’t see me on red carpets, and when I disappear until I have art to share, that’s why.”
The release of the 2024 album Cowboy Carter and the later release of her album Destiny’s Child comes after her 2016 album Lemonade. Therefore, talking with the outlet the singer details the making of the much-loved album.
“I started Cowboy Carter almost five years ago. Pay close attention to my age in the lyrics of ’16 Carriages,'” she added. “It’s been thirty-eight summers, and I’m not in my bed.”
This isn’t the first time the singer who is married to JAY-Z revealed she started working on Cowboy Carter before her Renaissance tour.
She said in a press release issued alongside the country project, “It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put ‘Cowboy Carter’ out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance. We deserved to dance. But I had to trust God’s timing.”
