A new Marvel teaser appears to confirm rumours that pop star Rihanna has recorded a song for the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Marvel’s next film, will be released later this year. In the days leading up to the film’s release, Marvel Entertainment made a brief and mysterious announcement about it on Wednesday, teasing with a ‘R’ logo from the title and promising that the mystery will be revealed in two days. Fans, however, believe this refers to a possible Rihanna song on the film’s soundtrack.
Marvel Entertainment’s official Instagram page shared a small video of the film’s title forming on a black background on Wednesday morning. Following that, the R from Forever appears in large font in the centre. The date 10.28.22 is listed below (October 28, 2022). The caption was simply “Wakanda Forever,” followed by an eyes emoji.
While the post didn’t reveal much, fans took it as confirmation that Rihanna would perform a song for the film’s soundtrack. When the first Black Panther film was released in 2018, there were rumours that the pop star would record a song for it. Last week, several news outlets reported that Rihanna had recorded a song for the sequel.
Many fans appeared to be convinced that the teaser announcement was indeed about Rihanna.”It’s about time RiRi did this film,” one fan said. “Academy Award winner Rihanna is here!” wrote another. Many others, however, were perplexed as to whether the announcement was a reference to the film’s R rating. Wakanda Forever is highly unlikely to be R-rated, given the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s aversion to films that do not appeal to a wider audience.
In Wakanda Forever, a new Black Panther takes T’Challa’s place. The actor who played the role in the first film, Chadwick Boseman, died in 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Namor the submariner, played by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta, joins the Marvel universe as a new threat.
