Lupita Nyong looked back at the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. In August. 28, Nyong shared a heartfelt note on Instagram on the occasion of the death anniversary of his Black Panther co-star who died in 2020 after a prolonged battle with colon cancer. The late actor was first diagnosed with the deadly disease in 2016, despite showing initial progress his condition deteriorated making it progress to stage IV. Lupita Nyong shared a black-and-white image of Chadwick on the tribute note
The Oscar-winner started her note on her Instagram writing, “Grief never ends. But it changes. It is a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, or a lack of faith. It’s the price of love.”
Lupita concluded the note adding, “Remembering Chadwick Boseman. Forever.”
Bosman was survived by his wife singer Taylor Simone Ledward in 2019 whom she dated since 2015. Their marriage has been secret throughout his life but later revealed by his family while announcing his death.
Lupita and Chadwick who appeared in 2018’s Black Panther alongside Michael B. Jordan, Angela Bassett, and Daniel Kaluuya formed an incredibly close friendship during the filming process of the movie.
She also expressed her grief during the time of his death.
Nyong penned in a September 2020 Instagram post, “I am struggling to think and speak about my friend, Chadwick Boseman, in the past tense. It doesn’t make sense.”
Describing the void the actress explained that his loss felt like a “punch to my gut every morning.”
Moreover, she denotes the way Chadwick had a “profound effect” on her life by revealing, “When we came together to make Black Panther, I remember being struck by his quiet, powerful presence.”
“He had no airs about him, but there was a higher frequency that he seemed to operate from,” the actress added. “You got the sense that he was fully present and also somehow fully aware of things in the distant future. As a result, I noticed that Chadwick never seemed rushed! He commanded his time with ease…and he put in the work with all of us.”
She continued, “He used his life force to tell meaningful stories. And now we tell his…”
