Blake Lively is finally addressing the domestic violence plot in the new movie ‘It Ends With Us.’ After facing immense backlash for the allegations of romanticizing ‘domestic violence’ through this Colleen Hoover novel adaptation Lively took her Instagram Story to bring awareness to domestic violence which is the central plot of the movie. The actress shared two clips first featuring one of her BBC interviews addressing the topic and another one with a note for the fans. Blake Lively shared two stories in her defence
The 36-year-old first reshared a clip from her interview with BBC News where is having a serious discussion on her character Lily Bloom. Lively noted that the protagonist “is not just a survivor, and she’s not just a victim, and while those are huge things to be, they are not her identity.”
Over the clip, she wrote a long note. The note begins by thanking “everyone who came out to show that people WANT to see films about women and the multitudes we hold.”
“It Ends With Us is a story of the female experience. All the highest highs, and lowest lows,” she added. “And we are so proud of it.”
Ahead of thanking the fans again the Gossip Girl star noted, “We have been in celebration of this film and of getting a message so important out there to the masses.”
Following up she shared another story pointing out statistics of violence women face in their homes.
The story reads, “1 in 4 women aged 18 and older in the US alone have been the victim of severe physical violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime. Intimate partner violence affects all genders, including more than 12 million people every year in the United States.”
Blake’s message continues, “Everyone deserves relationships free from domestic violence. The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides confidential support 24/7/365.”
Therefore she also shared a link that will help, “ to access the hotline or to learn more click the link below.”
The post concluded, “For immediate help text “START” to 88788.”
The clarification comes after the actress was facing immense backlash for not properly addressing the serious topic of the movie. As fans argue that she’s trying to promote the film like a Barbenheimer event with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Hugh Jackman’s film Deadpool & Wolverine.
