Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s kids are taking their mother’s side. The former couple’s 18-year-old daughter Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has filed an appeal to allow her to drop her father’s surname from her own hyphenated surname. As per the sources Shiloh wants to simply add her mother’s surname in her legal name. Apart from Shiloh Brad and Angelina share three biological children with her 15-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox as well as three adopted children, sons Maddox, 22, and Pax, 20, and daughter Zahara, 19. Shiloh first submitted the paperwork requesting on her 18th birthday
As per the report of TMZ, on May 27 which is also her milestone 18th birthday Shiloh filed the paperwork about the name-dropping.
Moreover, Shiloh is not the only Jolie-Pitt who dropped her father’s last name. As the teen’s younger sister, Vivienne recently co-produced the Broadway production of The Outsiders, alongside her superstar mom, and was credited as “Vivienne Jolie.”
Dropping father’s name seems the history in their family since Angelina herself was born as was originally born Angelina Jolie Voight with the last names of her father Jon Voight and mother Marcheline Bertrand. However, after a long estrangement from her father, The Maleficent star legally drops Voight from her name which was granted by the court in 2002.
Earlier this month a source of Entertainment Tonight revealed Shiloh’s aspirations of establishing her own name behind the shadow of her famous parents.
“Shiloh is an exceptionally talented dancer, displaying both dedication and hard work. She doesn’t rely on her famous name to achieve her goals,” the source added. “Shi is a sincere and straightforward person who never uses her celebrity status to her advantage. I understand that it can be difficult to see the person beyond her celebrity status, but I urge you to make an effort for her. Believe me, it’s worth it.”
Although the ex’s relationship seems to get worse Brad doesn’t seem to have any bad blood with his kids. As in 2022 after a video of Shiloh showing off her dance moves went viral, the Moneyball actor said, “It brings a tear to the eye, yeah,”and added that she’s “very beautiful.”
