K-pop sensation BTS is going to take a long break in their career. On October 17, the group’s agency Big Hit Entertainment released an official statement announcing the news. In South Korea, able-bodied men under the age of 18 to 35 have to serve in the military for at least 18 months. Prior to this announcement the band members Jin, Suga, J-hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook announced focusing on their solo careers in a video posted on YouTube. Let’s find out the details of the announcement.

BTS member Jin will join the military first

On Oct. 17, the band’s label, Big Hit Music, announced the news via their official Twitter (https://twitter.com/BIGHIT_MUSIC/status/1581905317545533440?t=psJMMPML-XM2MKd_pD3axQ&s=08). The statement starts,” BigHit MUSIC is proud to announce today that the members of BTS are currently moving forward with plans to fulfil their military service “. Furthermore, they shared some details on the joining process of the members. The Grammy-nominated group’s member Jin who is going to be 30 this year will join first.

“Group member Jin will initiate the process as soon as his schedule for his solo release is concluded at the end of October. He will then follow the enlistment procedure of the Korean government. Other members of the group plan to carry out their military service based on their own individual plans. Both the company and the members of BTS are looking forward to reconvening as a group again around 2025 following their service commitment.”- the statement follows.

Later on, the statement concludes with “The release of their first anthology album (We are Bulletproof) earlier this year opened the path to allow the members to take some time to explore individual projects, As part of the HYBE family, we support and encourage our artists and are beyond proud that they will each now have time to explore their unique interests and do their duty by being of service to the country they call home. Yet To Come (The Most Beautiful Moment)’ is more than a track from their latest album, it is a promise, there’s much more yet to come in the years ahead from BTS.”

Four months ago the group announced to take a break from group activities and focus on solo projects. The band member J-Hop’s album Jack In The Box was also released after the announcement.

It’s indeed an emotional moment for the Armys.
