Sabrina Carpenter is not tasting some shade thanks to Camila Cabello! On Sept. 20, at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Festival Cabello removed a word from the lyrics of her hit with ex Shawn Mendes “Señorita.” This sudden change of lyrics made fans wonder if she was doing this to take a dig at Carpenter who was rumored to be linked with her longtime boyfriend.
Mendes and Cabello first parted ways back in 2021 after more than two years of dating, however, they briefly rekindled their relationship in 2023 with an intense PAD at Coachella. The news of their patch-up came shortly after rumors lit up about Carpenter and Mendes’s link-up. However, Mendes later denied the alleged romance during an interview in March 2023. Let’s check out how Cabello shades Carpenter.
Camila Cabello removed the word ‘Test’ while singing “Señorita”
Cabello lit the stage of the iHeartRadio Music Festival with her hit singles including the 2018 collaboration with the 26-year-old singer.
Cabello removed the word ‘taste’ from the song as she goes “You say we’re just friends/But friends don’t know the way you…” while putting a finger to her lips with a knowing look before going on singing the later part of the song.
Afterward, fans started to point out it was a dig at Carpenter and her new song “Taste.”
The 25-year-old released “Taste” on her new album Short n’ Sweet last month. The music video as well the lyrics of the track is supposedly hint at her reported romance with Mendes.
Mendes dated Cabello for more than two years before calling it off after briefly getting back together.
Carpenter sings on the song which features Jenna Ortega in the video, “I heard you’re back together and if that’s true / You’ll just have to taste me when he’s kissin’ you / If you want forever, I bet you do / Just know you’ll taste me too.”
However, many fans noted it might not be referring to Sabrina as the performance was live-streamed, and since the lyrics of the song are a reference to sex, it might make the star censure the line “taste.
Meanwhile, Carpenter, who didn’t reveal the concept of her songs, still has Short n’ Sweet as many references to Mendes. For instance, in her song “Coincidence” the singer seemingly points out the exes reunion at 2023 Coachella as she sings, “What a surprise, your phone just died/Your car drove itself from L.A. to her thighs/Palm Springs looks nice, but who’s by your side?/Damn it, she looks kinda like the girl you outgrew.”
