Donald Trump was re-elected as the president of the United States of America by defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. The Republic candidate who previously lost the 2020 election to Joe Biden will succeed him as the 47th president of the United States. He previously served as the 45th president alongside former Vice President Mike Pence who lost to President Biden and Vice President Harris during the 2020 election.
Trump will now enter the White House with Vice President JD Vance beating out Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. Let’s see what’s Trump’s reaction after being re-elected as the president.
Trump becomes second U.S. President to win non-consecutive terms
After the result was announced, Trump created history by becoming the second U.S. President to win non-consecutive terms after President Grover Cleveland who served in the White House from 1885-1889 and 1893-1897.
On November 6, the NBC News reported Trump expressed his gratitude to be re-elected as the president at a campaign.
“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president,” He said. “This was a movement like no one has ever seen before. Frankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time.”
The 78-year-old added, “Now it is going to reach a new level of importance. Because we are going to help our country heal.”
He became not only the third president in America to be impeached by the House of Representatives but also the first impeached president to run for re-election.
Later, the elected VP Vance also told Trump, “I appreciate you allowing me to join you on this incredible journey. I think we just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.”
The interview comes in weeks of highs and lows as back in July the former Apprentice host was shot in his ear onstage at his rally. Later on, the assassinator Thomas Matthew Crooks was killed by the Secret Service.
First Lady Melania Trump also shared an update on his condition.
On July 14, she wrote on Instagram via a letter noted, “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”
