The 2024-25 senior men’s Indian domestic cricket season is all set to take off with the Duleep Trophy tournament. The preparatory event was primarily conducted ahead of India’s home Test series. Moreover, the tour to Australia will take place later this year after this event. The Duleep Trophy is regarded as one of the magnificent tournaments that offers India’s red-ball hopefuls a chance to shine. The tournament which is divided into six zones had an interesting end last season with the Hanuma Vihari-led South Zone winning the title after defeating West Zone by 75 runs in the Bengaluru final.
However, BCCI has included a change in the zoning system with India A, India B, India C, and India D. The tournament will be played with a round-robin league-based format including no knockout matches this year. The top ranks of the three rounds will be declared the winner. The Dates and Venues of the Duleep Trophy 2024-25
The upcoming tournament will be played at two venues namely Anantapur Cricket Ground complex in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. Moreover, it is reported that one match from the first round might be held at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The three-round tournament is all set to be conducted from September 5 to September 22.
Players like Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Surykumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer are included in the squad of major sports events.
However, Indian national team captain Rohit Sharma and prominent batsman Virat Kohli are not taking part in the event. Moreover, spinner Jasprit Bumrah won’t play in the tournament because of his prolonged rest period.
