Austin Butler is celebrating his Academy nomination but in a bittersweet way. The actor was nominated in the Best Actor category for portraying King of Rock ‘n Roll Presley. Butler reflected on the death of Elvis’s only child Lisa Marie Presley while celebrating his great achievement. Lisa Marie even attended the 2023 Golden Globe award with the actor before passing away on 12th January.

While talking with Today Butler told the anchors Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager how he wanted to share this moment with Elvis’s late daughter. He said, “It’s sort of a bittersweet moment right now because of how much I wish she was here right now to get to celebrate with me. It’s the same thing I feel with Elvis, I wish that they could see these moments. It feels sort of strange to celebrate at a time of such deep grief. But I sort of think of it as a way to honor her and just make a difference for her.”
Lisa Marie passed away two days after they attended the 2024 Golden Globe together. Butler even won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama.
The actor, later on, talked about his role, “I’m still processing it right now, but it was such a daunting undertaking, making this movie and it was also a very long process. I just remember those sleepless nights and all the fear, all the possibilities for how it could have gone wrong.” the 31-year-old added,”Not just for me, but for all these other amazing artists that worked on the film, being recognized just feels really surreal and amazing.”
Austin also attended the late singer’s memorial service on January 22, which took place at Graceland in Memphis
